Hi! Tell me about your band and what kind of previous experience do you have as musicians?
Hi to Music World! We’ re Reapter, a thrash metal band from Rome, Italy. The band was born in late 2005 and we released two Eps (First One-2007 and The Storm Approaches-2008) and two Lps (M.I.N.D.-2013, and Cymatics-2016). We played in many venues and festivals, and we shared the stage with bands such as Testament, Dark Funeral, Nightmare, Civil War, Sadist, Nervosa and Jinjer. Now we’ re working on the new album!
Why did you pick your band name? How did you form? Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do?
The monicker Reapter is formed by REAPER and RICHTER, the earthquake scale. I think is the best way for us to show the power of the band. Max (lead guitar) wanted to form a new band after his former experiences. So me and Claudio (vocals) joined the band and we started the work. We don’ t decide to play this or that genre. We like to play everything is natural for ourselves!
What can you tell us about your latest record?
I can’ t say too much about it, but it will be the most powerful Reapter album ever made! We look forward to let you listen it as soon as possible!
What the kind of album feedbacks are you waiting for?
The message from us is always the most positive possible. I always say that if you create energy, people will bring it back to you! So, yes, we expect the most positive feedback from it.
Are you gonna to make some world tour in the future? Do you think this is available for everybody option to tour around the globe? What do you think band have to do to get such opportunity?
A world tour is the last step of a hard work. First, we tour a country in Europe or two or three together, as we did with Nervosa in 2017 and previously in Eastern Europe in 2013. When hopefully things get heated and positive feedbacks are skyrocketing, then we can have a better look to our position and start thinking about a world tour. It’s the dream of all of us. What is to be needed to get there you say? Very hard work and when needed, more work all carefully planned.
Do you believe in heavy music scene without money?
Money is a very important aspect in a musician’ s career, not only in heavy music. Simply because without it, you can’ t afford instruments, gear, etc. If you want to be “competitive” in the business, you can never make it without it.
What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
I think the best way for a band is to play on stage. Each one of us, almost once, has downloaded a song from the web, but personally I always bought the LP after that. Because we understand the effort behind every work! Sometimes we like to throw some our Cds from the stage, it’s a little gift we want to do to the crowd.
Who are your musical influences? Have you ever think your band could be so famous as your favorites?
Sincerely we always focused to make the best job with our skills. If one day we’ ll become famous, it will be very cool for us! I think it’ s the dream of every band! About musical inlfuences, we’ re a 5 members band where each one of us like a different genre. In our music you’ ll find thrash, prog, death, and groove elements just because of that. I think it’ s a really interesting aspect of Reapter!
Do you have a formal music education? Do you think it’s a Kind of important thing?
Each one of us takes lessons regularly. To learn more things about the instrument it’ s the best thing for a musician. Technique allows you to achieve the best you have in mind, and this is very important. Also you can compete with yourself and see the every-day improvements in terms of technique and feelings!
How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?
Max and Daniele (rhythm guitar) have kids, me and Jury (bass guitar) have a girlfriend, but it isn’t a problem at all! All of them are the best inspiration for us. On the other hand, they perfectly know we want to be on the road playing on stage or to be in studio recording a new album. We have full support from them.
How do you handle mistakes during a performance? Or you can assure there are no any mistakes during your gigs? Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
We’ ve been playing for 14 years, we have a very high level of understanding of each other. So far we didn’ t struggle too much with unexpected moments on stage. We do mistakes as everyone. When we’ re in rehearsal we take care this aspect in order to play the best of us on stage!
What’s next? Thank you!
The next thing will be the new album. Trust me, it will be killer. And after released, we’ ll be back on the road to promote it. See you on stage and thank you very much to the Music World Staff!
