Chester Bennington says that he is longer fronting STONE TEMPLE PILOTS because he wanted to make his family more of a priority. The LINKIN PARK singer joined STP in May 2013 after the famed alt-rock group fired Scott Weiland, who helped found the band in 1985. Bennington and STP released the five-song “High Rise” EP in October of that year. It included the singles “Out Of Time” and “Black Heart”. Two months after Weiland‘s December 2015 death, and three months after Bennington ended his two-year tenure with STP, the remaining members announced they would hold auditions to fill the role … Continue reading

Neon Knights: Q&A with Carpenter Brut

Along with the ubiquitous Perturbator, Carpenter Brut is one of the leading (neon) lights of the synthwave movement – and with only three EP’s and some contributions to the Furi videogame soundtrack to his credit, that’s saying a lot. Quality over quantity every time. His uniquely satanic sounds earned him an opening slot for Ghost last year, and the French artist is about to embark on his first headlining tour of the US. In case you aren’t familiar with his work (or even if you are), we reached out to Monsieur Brut himself at his home in an abandoned arcade. … Continue reading

Streaming: Förgjord's "Uhripuu" & “Vahvempi kuin koskaan”

Formed in the mid ‘90s, Finland’s Förgjord are an odd and vicious beast from a scene where nasty oddities are more than permitted, they’re practically required. After garnering some attention with their debut full length in 2008, Ajasta Ikuisuuteen, the then-duo went on to release their critically lauded sophomore album, Sielunvihollinen, all the while eschewing the limelight. Now, in 2017, Förgjord have secured a drummer, are poised to release their third full length to date, and appear to have perfected their bewildering mix of melody and madness, dignity and cacophony, insanity and preeminence. Named after a type of tree considered … Continue reading
