Interview with Bad Bullet

Hi! Tell me about your band and what kind of previous experience do you have as musicians?

Hello, at first I would like to thank you for giving us an interview. The band was founded in 2013 by Manuel (Rhythm Guitar + Vocalist), Gernot (Lead-Guitar) and Steven (Drums). The first steps were really hard. None of us had ever played in a band, so at first we had to learn what was really important……to play together, to play in time and to get a little bit of “groove”. The problem at that time was that we did not have a bassist. It took us until the end of 2017 to found a bass player. (Rock is less popular in our homeland, more pop, techno and softer music) With Michael (Bass player) everything got better. In 2018 we played our first gigs ever and it was great. We got good feedbacks and invitations for bigger events.

Why did you pick your band name?

The name comes from an alcoholic beverage from our favorite bar.

How did you form?

We (Manuel, Steven, Gernot) knew each by playing soccer in a club. Each of us had the dream to play in a band and one day we came to speak about that. It was a gift that everyone played the right instrument.
Michael joined the band through Gernot. They knew each other through their work

Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do?

Because it´s the kind of music that moves us.

You can’t play pop or country the right way, if you don’t love and LIFE this genre J

What can you tell us about your latest record?

Use the Energy was recorded in July 2018 by „Abnormal Audio Assault“ Studios.
The CD includes 12 songs. It is a mix between ballads, punk rock songs and a little bit of metal.

Use the Energy was our first step to find a style, it’s an experiment of us.

The lyrics on the album are mostly positive. Never give up and follow your dreams are our messages. But also negative context like Poison World (a song which was inspired by Fallout 4) and Judgement Day are on the playlist. As the albumname suggests, we want the people to gain power with the album and see the positive things in life in a world, where everything seems to get negative. We don’t want that, we want a world, in which everyone come together, accept each other and we want a world were people realize: we should life together and accept each other. Honestly, there is so much negativity in the world what in my opinion leads to depression, panic attacks or  anxiety disorders. This should stop immediately. People who are trapped in a depression or suffer from burnouts are not sick, neither weak, they just needed to be too strong, for too long time. And we hope that our songs help them to escape that vicious circle.

What the kind of album feedbacks are you waiting for?

Some will like it, some will hate it. We see it sportly. J

Are you gonna to make some world tour in the future?

If we get the chance to do one – sure thing!

Do you think this is available for everybody option to tour around the globe?

Yes, you just have to be a little crazy and be lucky.

What do you think band have to do to get such opportunity?

You have to make good music, play a lot of live to win fans. You need to be present on the internet … and most importantly, they need good support from their label or their management.

Do you believe in heavy music scene without money?

It’s difficult — sure it is possible if you are really good – but money speaks….

What do you think about online music sharing?

It’s great for newcomers. You can hear their music on YouTube etc. For finding new listeners it’s great – to earn money…less. Unfortunately I can’t speak from the point of view of a big band like “Metallica”. But honestly, how can people know what they want, if you don’t give them the chance to find out, you know?

Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Yes, our album is on free-stream on YouTube. Why? To get noticed and to find listeners J

Who are your musical influences?

Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Rise Against and some kind of Metallica.

Have you ever think your band could be so famous as your favorites?

It is our dream. Keep reaching for the stars, if you don’t do this, stay in your practise room.

Do you have a formal music education?

No….. does YouTube counts?

Do you think it’s a Kind of important thing?

No, I think the most important thing is, that you play your music with pride, love and heart – and nothing else matters.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?

None of us has children – so that’s no problem.
Sure the Job is #1 but music is always at the forefront.

How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

To make make mistakes is hust human……. just play on and have fun….. or start the Song again.

Even the “big ones” make mistakes from time to time or you can assure there are no any mistakes during your gigs?

Sure we are perfect *lol*

As I said, making mistakes is human.

Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Yes, but it’s not nervous or fear…. it is the pleasure to be able to play

What’s next?

We are planning to make a video to a new single, to find a better sound and we are planning to play more often in 2019.

Thank you!

Thank you too.
