SYR DARIA is a French band born at the end of 2007, of the meeting of the guitarists Michel Erhart and Thomas Haessy, joins by Christophe Brunner and Guillaume Hesse. Recording of one 7 titles, brought out in January 2011, distributed by BRENNUS MUSIC label.
On may 2016 the second album “Voices” was realised and also distributed by Brennus Music.
The group occurred on various stages:

Since april 2018, the bass player Pascal Husser joined the band, previously Guillaume, the singer held this position.
Syr Daria is working in a musical way mixing metal, trash, power metal and groove with also prog’ influences.
Why did you pick your band name? How did you form? Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do?
The band is called “SYR DARIA” as a reference to the river of the same name
this river symbolizes the border between East and West, it can be a place of exchange or war, but remains imperturbable before the madness of men.
We play the genre what we can do 😉 , it’s a mix of the influences of each members .
What can you tell us about your latest record?
Our latest records “Tears of a clown” is the continuity, the evolution of our first 2 essays “Circus of life” and “Voices”, we worked our sound more in depth, the compositions are more varied, going from songs with progressives influences to thrash.
What the kind of album feedbacks are you waiting for?
We hope that with our third album we could touch many people, as every serious bands, our goal is to have acces to more stages, and for that, promoters, organisers should appreciated this new album… We hope so … We put a lot of hope in this album.
Are you gonna to make some world tour in the future? Do you think this is available for everybody option to tour around the globe? What do you think band have to do to get such opportunity?
A world tour for a band like “Syr Daria”, of course could be a great opportunities, but before that, I think, we have to work very hard, I think, we have to work about our “visibility” and a tour like that mean to be the guest of big and more famous band like us and of course payed for that, some tour manager already proposed that, but the cost to do that was really to important.
Seriously, I think we have to work about touring first in Europe, and step by step, we hope we can acces to other stages or festivals in the world . And, of course, we have all a familly, childs, It’s really difficult to stop our job, money is necessary, we are Syr Daria, not Metallica, salary for a band like us could sometime payed the gazoline and something to eat unfortunately…
Do you believe in heavy music scene without money?
Without money, I think It’s more and more difficult to have success for a “heavy metal” band, twenty or thirty years ago, people bought cds (vinyl records by the way 😉 ), now it’s more easy to produce a cd, but not easy to sell enough for living ….
What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
On line music sharing is a good promotionnal vector, for free ?? Now it’s quite impossible to avoid to have our music for free on web, I hope if people could listen some of our music for free, after they bought our cds …
Who are your musical influences? Have you ever think your band could be so famous as your favorites?
Our musical influences are varied, some of us was at the Metallica “school” other at the Maiden 😉 In fact, they are so many fabulous bands in the world, in Heavy, trash, death, stoner style… Soilwork, Avantasia, Amorphis, Slayer, Clutch ……. From Pink Floyd to Slayer theyre so many influences possible …
After that, if we could be so famous as our favourites?? Mhhh !! Musical market is now really big , enormous, I don’t know, I don’t want to think about that, if we done our music sincerely and with passion, with the best we can do, this is the way to increase our fan base . Our goal is to make many nice stages, venues, and having financial possibility to issue new recording as soon as we can , what else 😉
Do you have a formal music education? Do you think it’s a Kind of important thing?
Just like our influences our origins and reasons for starting music are different. Is it important to have a classical musical background? I think the important thing is to play what you love and do it with passion.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?
There is no question that family are priorities, work is the only way to feed our fammily, so … Also really important, if music could give us the possibility to feed our family ? It ‘ll be paradise !!! but really, really difficult ….
Beyond this state of affairs we are lucky to have understanding women and our children have always followed and supported us.
How do you handle mistakes during a performance? Or you can assure there are no any mistakes during your gigs? Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
Oh! It’s a trap! We are unmasked ! lol
We don’t hesitate to use corporal punishment in case of mistake! lol
Seriously, of course there are mistakes sometimes. Our secret? Don’t panic!!!!!!
We are humans and we are not infallible, but they’re small and we make sure we never stop in this case. In general, no one hears them except the band itself.
But I think it’s a part of the charm of live music.
We’re always a little nervous before a show but after all these years playing together we are a real family! We know how to reassure and talk to each other.
Well for the rest we look forward to the release of our 3rd album “Tears of a Clowns” for which we have worked very hard!
Immediately after we will go on tour to discover our music throughout these concerts. We are truly excited!!!!!!
Thanks to you!!!
