Mark Evans, who played bass for AC/DC from 1975 until 1977, has joined fellow legendary Australian hard rockers ROSE TATTOO. News of the 61-year-old musician’s addition to ROSE TATTOO‘s lineup was broken in a Facebook post by another new member, former ANGELS guitarist Bob Spencer. Joining Evans and Spencer in ROSE TATTOO‘s current incarnation are former AUSTRALIAN CRAWL drummer John Watson, Dai Pritchard — the band’s guitarist for the past decade — and frontman Angry Anderson. “How’s this for a band? Dai Pritchard, Mark Evans, John ‘Watto’ Watson, Angry, Moi. Meet the new ROSE TATTOO,” Spencer wrote. Anderson, Evans and … Continue reading

DECAPITATED Guitarist Remembers Late Brother

Anthony Morgan of Metal Forces recently conducted an interview with DECAPITATED guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. On the style of new DECAPITATED album, “Anticult”: Vogg: “We thought the album should be a very extreme metal album, but at the same time with lots of melodies — like a crossover album for DECAPITATED. We connected lots of different styles of metal into one piece, and also we thought about making this album not too long. That’s why it’s thirty-eight minutes, which in my opinion is enough time to deliver all of the interesting … Continue reading

SIKTH Releases 'Cracks Of Light' Video Feat. PERIPHERY's SPENCER SOTELO

The long-awaited new full studio album from SIKTH, “The Future In Whose Eyes?”, was released earlier this year. The record found the band venturing into new musical territories and exploring new possibilities and was the first SIKTH album to feature a guest vocalist. After being invited to join PERIPHERY on a U.S. tour in the summer of 2016, vocalist Mikee W Goodman and PERIPHERY singer Spencer Sotelo began to hatch a plan that would lead to Sotelo travelling to the U.K. to record the song “Cracks Of Light” with Goodman at R&R Studios in Uxbridge. Summer 2017 saw PERIPHERY touring … Continue reading

We’re getting into the dog days of August, and the releases are heating up… Have you ever wanted a symphonic metal version of the Spice Girls? No? You either?  Napalm Records really seems to have a formula, don’t they? Put a hot chick (in this case 4) add some goofy music and voila! You have a new release! I mean there are 4 female vocalists (all hailing from different countries, “yet stemming from the world of rock”) and this birdbrain is having a hard time not … Continue reading

MIKE PORTNOY: 'Out Of The Eighty-Seven Bands I've Been In, I've Only Ever Left Two'

Mike Portnoy has defended himself against criticism that he is involved with too many bands, explaining that he is simply someone “who loves music” and wants to “play with different people.” Since leaving DREAM THEATER in 2010, the drummer has been involved with a slew of projects, either as a hired gun or a collaborating musician. These groups — which include AVENGED SEVENFOLD, THE WINERY DOGS, ADRENALINE MOB, METAL ALLEGIANCE and TWISTED SISTER — are notably different from each other and from the music Portnoy earned his stripes playing. During an appearance on the “Trunk Nation” radio show earlier this … Continue reading

Full Album Stream: Dead Woman’s Ditch – “Seo Mere Saetan”

UK label Third I Rex has made itself home to a number of unique bands, not least of which is Dead Woman’s Ditch. A unique combination of doom and sludge metal with elements of black metal and even psychedelia, their debut record, Seo Mere Saetan, is an ugly-yet-captivating take on doom. The band was formed by bassist Glenn Charman, who previously spent two years playing with doom legends Electric Wizard. They built their own studio to work on the record, which they say helped the process along. “In the last couple of years, we’ve built a small studio on the edge of the Quantock hills, … Continue reading
